Shui’an Hui, Building C of the riverside’s public open space, is TM Studio’s renewal of a small service building on the Huangpu River. Without enlarging its footprint, the design opens the site’s closed flood barriers to the riverside trail, gathers two narrow corridors into a semi-open gallery facing the water, and wraps three disparate volumes in a single abstract facade. The film foregrounds how the building is woven into the everyday lives of Xuhui’s residents.
